Last week we erected the widest portal frame in all of our 22 years. It is 50 metres wide, which is as wide as an Olympic swiming pool is long, and with no internal columns. Not only that, but the eaves height is over 10 metres.
It is unusual for an extension to be bigger than the original building, but as the photograph shows, this is much wider and much higher than the existing building. Our Client, West Design Ltd, needed to extend the 3000 square metre warehouse we built for them about 5 years ago. The warehouse was designed with 50% spare space for expansion, but the perfect premises provided opportunities to expand the business even further, and thus the need for additional space
