The new “Rebound Zone” at William Parker Sports College was officially opened last Wednesday. Directors Duncan and Jennifer Murray attended the opening ceremony, along with the town’s mayor and a crowd of budding gymnasts.
The new tumbling area was part of the design for the Gymnastics Centre, designed and built by Directline Structures. The school was able to complete the fit out, including a stack of specialist equipment, foam flooring and a foam-filled dismount pit for freestyle tumbling, after winning the Jubilee People’s Millions.
John Court, the headteacher, said “This will be something Hastings can be proud of and will give future gymnasts somewhere to train and anyone interested in freerunning or parkour somewhere safe to practice and develop their skills.”
The opening ceremony was followed by some tumbling demonstrations, with youngsters flipping and spinning through the air and landing in the safety of the giant foam pit.
